The Vassalboro Selectboard will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Vassalboro Town Office (682 Main Street) to receive public input on the following warrant articles:
- Article 1 (Budget Committee): To vote to elect budget committee members by secret ballot (pursuant to 30-A MRS § 2528) instead of floor nominations, starting at the 2027 annual town meeting.
- Article 2 (Town Manager Hiring): To appropriate up to $20,000 from the unassigned fund balance for competitive market flexibility during the Town Manager recruitment process.
- Article 3 (Auditor Agreement): To appropriate up to $8,000 from the unassigned fund balance for a non-attest agreement with RHR to resolve outstanding financial adjustments and certify the 2024-25 audit.
- Article 4 (Financial Services): To appropriate up to $30,000 from the unassigned fund balance to fund financial services (including bookkeeper compensation increases, contracting a third-party controller, or hiring an HR assistant).
- Article 5 (Fund Transfers): To authorize the selectboard to transfer funds between accounts during FY 2026-27 to prevent overdrafts, provided the grand total of all appropriations is not exceeded.
- Article 6 (Plow Truck Purchase): To revise June 1, 2026 Town Meeting Article 5 by appropriating $175,000 from unappropriated surplus for a direct plow truck purchase instead of borrowing funds.
- Article 7 (Budget Committee Ordinance): Shall the town vote to approve the Budget Committee Ordinance? (A copy of the proposed ordinance is attached and has become part of this warrant. Additional copies of the proposed ordinance are available at the town office).
