The Town of Vassalboro is officially seeking civic-minded residents to step forward and fill four vital leadership roles within the community. Openings include two full voting seats and two alternate seats on the Vassalboro Planning Board.

The Planning Board plays a critical role in guiding the town’s growth, reviewing land use applications, and ensuring that new developments align with Vassalboro’s comprehensive plan and ordinances. Serving on this board offers a direct, powerful way to shape the local economy, protect natural resources, and preserve the unique rural character of the community.

“Civic duty is the backbone of a strong town,” said Town Manager Aaron Miller. “Serving on the Planning Board is one of the most impactful ways a resident can give back. No prior background in municipal planning is required—just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and serve the best interests of fellow neighbors. Alternate members participate in discussions and stand ready to vote in the absence of regular members, making it an excellent entry point for residents looking to get involved in local government.
