Minutes of the Joint Meeting of the

Vassalboro Select Board and

Vassalboro Budget Committee

June 26, 2008

Rob Browne called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. and declared a quorum of the Budget Committee Members. In attendance at the meeting were the following: Lauchlin Titus, Mike Vashon, Mary Sabins, Bill Browne, Dick Phippen, William Whitley, Elizabeth Reuthe, and Joe Suga.

Mike Vashon explained the end-of-year budget overdrafts of $559.80 in the General Assistance Account and $15.16 in the Library Account, which is the reason for tonight’s meeting. Mike explained that the Library will reimburse the Town the $15.16 overpayment, and he requested that the Budget Committee approve the transfer of $559.80 from the unexpended Solid Waste account to cover the General Assistance Account overdraft. After discussion, and on a motion made by Elizabeth Reuthe, seconded by Bill Browne, the Board voted unanimously to approve the transfer. Mike then circulated a spreadsheet for the Selectmen and Budget Committee Members to sign signifying their approval of the transfer.

After a brief discussion regarding the status of the school consolidation effort, many Budget Committee Members left the meeting for other obligations.

The Board reviewed the year-end Treasurer’s Warrant expenses and signed the warrant on a motion made by Lauchlin, seconded by Rob, and voted unanimously by the Board.

There being no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
