HELP WANTED: Cleaning Contractor – Town of Vassalboro Town Office

The Town of Vassalboro is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual (or small cleaning business) to provide consistent, high-quality cleaning services at the Town Office on a contract basis.

Position Details

• Paid contractor status (no benefits)
• $18.00 per hour
• 4 hours per week (flexible scheduling – typically two visits per week, day/time to be mutually agreed upon)
• Start date: Monday, January 5, 2026

Scope of Work

• Thoroughly empty all wastebaskets and recycling bins; transport trash and recyclables to the designated exterior containers
• Vacuum all carpeted areas and rugs
• Sweep and wet-mop hard-surface floors
• Clean and sanitize two public/staff restrooms (toilets, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, counters, and replenish paper products/soap as needed)
• Dust and spot-clean horizontal surfaces, windowsills, door frames, and baseboards
• Clean entryway glass doors and high-touch surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, railings)
• Light kitchenette cleanup (wipe counters, clean microwave exterior, empty coffee station trash)
• Report any maintenance issues or supply needs to the Town Manager
• Other light cleaning tasks as periodically requested

• Proven reliability and strong work ethic – you show up on time, every time, and take pride in leaving the building spotless
• Attention to detail and a consistent, thorough approach (no shortcuts)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Respect for municipal property and confidentiality of office materials
• Physical ability to lift trash bags, move light furniture if needed, and perform routine cleaning tasks
• Prior professional or commercial cleaning experience strongly preferred
• References required
