Vassalboro Conservation Commission
Minutes: Oct. 14, 2008

Members present:
David Jenney, Mary Ellen Johnston, Steve Jones, Holly Weidner.
7:00 PM, town office

Agenda items discussed:

1. Boat launch site: David Jenney went to look at the Seven Mile Stream site and reported back. It would need improved paths, and possibly a walkway built. The question of who owns the land on either side was raised. Paul will do some research and contact the landowner.

2. Follow up to Sept. meeting with Ginny Brackett: The Planning Board is interested in developing an Open Space component to a revised Site Development Ordinance. They would like us to help them develop a template for open space and habitat protection in appropriate locations. We discussed setting up a sub-committee to do the work.

3. David Jenney and Holly Weidner also walked through the Town Forrest
to see what it looked like. They noted some places that would need to be
checked (i.e. boundaries, pins) and commented on the earthwork going on
behind the ball fields. We looked at the abutting property on the map and found that a parcel/field could offer access to the trails from Rte 32. We agreed that we should have Vite Vitale look at the site again before we proceed with any harvesting activity.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary Ellen Johnston, Chair
