Meeting Vassalboro Conservation Commission
Minutes of November 21, 2013
Present: Mary Ellen Johnston, Paul Mitnik, Holly Weidner, Steve Jones, Dave Jenney

The meeting began at 7:00. The following was discussed
Project Canopy Grant – We plan to apply for a grant to fund a re-write of the Forest Management Plan. We plan to apply for a grant of $2500. The Town must match this with in-kind services. The Town Forest is located off Bog Road near the baseball fields.
We hope to use Vite Vitaly to re-write the plan. Vite authored the last Forest Management Plan in 2003. Vite also authored the forest management plan for the school plot in 2003. We hope to include both plots in the plan. The Bog Road plot is 46 acres and the school plot 25 acres.
Last forest harvest on the Bog Rd plot was 1997.
Dave indicated that we hope that the money from the harvest could be used for conservation. We would have to convince the Selectmen to allow this

The next meeting will be Jan 16, 2014.
