Vassalboro Conservation Commission Meeting

- Lots of deer around looking for food
- 15 Lots on Iona Drive are up for tax sale. ? acre lots of Crowell Hill Road, not far from the intersection with Cross Hill Road.
- Project Canopy
- We weren’t awarded the grant this year.
- Invasive Species Lecture/Workshop
- Could work with property owners to increase awareness about invasive species and teach them removal techniques.
- Could do a lecture Friday night at the Grange and workshop from the grange the following morning. Maybe Judy Stone from Colby could do the lecture.
- Steve will contact Matt Streeter, as they might like to be a co-sponsor. Try April 19 or 26 to meet with Matt to plan
- Steve has been working with Matt to get a plant list in order for revegetation along the bare soil.
- Outlet Stream Dam Removals
- David is part of a group planning the fishway location and design at the outlet of China Lake. The current thought is the fishway will be on the east side of outlet stream.
- Who will care for the fishways?
- Retaining walls behind the Grange and Post Office are being evaluated to see how the changes in water flow are affecting structural integrity
- The Conservation Commission can help improve education and interest about the project. The Invasive Species workshop along the Outlet Stream could help bridge the gaps.
