Vassalboro Conservation Commission
Met at 7:00 pm
1.Discussion of the Sub Division Ordinance.
Paul prepared copies of the ordinance with his comments in the margins.
Our goal was to read this ordinance, which was revised last in 1989, to determine how it can be modified and improved in terms of the impact that Sub Divisions have or potentially could have, on open space, natural resources and environmental concerns. Paul had highlighted certain sections for us to look at : Application Requirements , Final Plan Requirements, and Performance Standards. We will need to continue this process but got started and felt that it is possible to add some helpful language in key places.
2.Discussed the progress of the Vassalboro Farmers Market.
Holly reported that several more farms have joined the group that will sell on Fridays at the Grange Hall. It sounds like an enthusiastic group, very positive thing for Vassalboro. The VCC will ask to have a small table for literature and information about the work we do in town.
3. Report on the application for Project Canopy Grant.
Steve and Mary Ellen have been working on the plan, the budget and the narrative. It is due on April 10th in Augusta. We have to put final details together and let Mary Sabins review it.
Discussed inviting Peter Wilkins to April meeting to talk about the CLRA program.
The next meeting will be April 14th at 7 PM , location to be determined.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Ellen Johnston, Chair
