Meeting Vassalboro Conservation Commission
Minutes of June 21, 2012 Meeting
Present: Mary Ellen Johnston, Holly Weidner, Paul Mitnik Dave Jenney

The meeting began at 7:00. A final date for the canoe trip down the Kennebec River was set for Saturday, August 18. We will meet at the Seven Mile Stream junction at the site of the future carry-in boat trail at 10:00 AM. The rain date is Sunday August 19th but we would meet at 12:00 noon on this date. Holly will put this in the newspapers. Paul will be the contact person.

We talked about the boat launch on the Kennebec. Coffin Engineering did the field work for establishing the new trail that will meet ADA handicap standards. Paul needs to follow up with a meeting with Coffin.

Holly presented a draft of the Transportation Enhancement Program grant for sidewalks in East Vassalboro and was soliciting comments. A future draft will be sent by email for comment. The grant deadline which was originally the end of June was extended to the end of July. Holly indicated that we must allow for five foot shoulders on Rte 32 in addition to the sidewalk.

Adopt a road was discussed again. The CC would encourage neighborhood groups to maintain road areas in their neighborhood. The extent of their activities would be up to the individual groups.

The meeting ended at 8:30.
