VCC meeting. July 20, 2010- Minutes

7:00 pm, Present: Paul Mitnik, David Jenney, Mary Ellen Johnston, Steve Jones.

Discussion of the Project Canopy grant, Mary Ellen attended the workshop/training at the Maine Forest Service, a requirement under the grant. We may be able to put a tree near the ball fields if the Rec Committee wants one for shade. Otherwise, scale back to trees just along the driveway to the Town Office.

Paul has received the application for the boat launch and will get started on it with Josh Platt.

We want to begin doing some strategic planning and discussed having guest speakers at the fall meetings. Mary Ellen will follow up. The Beginning With Habitat maps are a good resource, and we need to determine what our priorities are.

Paul mentioned that there is a sub-division proposal that will come before the Planning Board, which we may want to be present for. We still want to work on strengthening the Open Space language in the ordinance, and encourage low-impact development.

The next VCC meeting will be on August 17, at 7PM. All are welcome.
