Minutes to the Aug.11 VCC meeting. 2009

Vassalboro Conservation Commission
7:00 pm, Present: Paul Mitnik, Mary Ellen Johnston, David Jenney, Holly Weidner,
Guests: Josh Platt, KS&WD and Ginny and Amanda Brackett.

1. Josh Platt came to talk about the boat launch site on Seven Mile Stream. He specified what needs to be done, ie, enlarged parking area, path down to the water needs work, staging area should be built. ( use concrete slab). He mentioned George Powell, at the DOC, who has grant money. We will need a P.E. to look at the site and develop a plan. DEP will have to issue the permit, so we need to contact AMY ?? at DEP. Josh and Dave will continue to work together on this, and Dave planns to attend Selectmen's meeting in Sept.

2. Mary Ellen discussed the poster that was placed at the Farmers Market so people can read about the Rancourt Farm project and ask questions. Amanda Brackett, a high school student at Erskine, has asked if she can help out as part of a community service project she began during the summer at a Brown U. program. Amanda and Mary Ellen will go to the FM on Fridays. Others are welcomed to help too! Also, Vassalboro Days are Sept. 18 and 19 and we need to have a table to display our poster and do outreach. Mary Ellen will contact the people who are in charge of this event.

5. The next meeting will be on Sept. 8.
