- May 19th at Vassalboro Wildlife Habitat on Webber Pond Road. Bird Walk at 8:00am
- CRLA Funding
- The draft Town Warrant notes $10K for funding
- Seedling Plantings
- Karen Simpson has been in contact with Holly about seedlings planted at Vassalboro Community School and the China Schools. These seedlings are destined for the Masse Mill site and may need tending over the summer for watering. Possibly CRLA boat monitors at the China Lake landing could water plants at Holly’s house?
- Forest Management Plans
- Chris suggested using Unity or UMaine students to help with Forest Management Plan updates. He will research.
- Town/State Lands
- Town owns land on Mill Road near railroad bridge, adjacent to Annie Sturgis property. Had been considered to be a boat launch in the past. Research noted that low water is the major barrier to usage as boats cannot get through at these times.
- Maine Central Railroad owns land which maybe they would not want as PanAm owns the rail line.
- Town owns smaller island on Webber Pond. Noted as the “Town Farm Island” on the Webber Pond water depth map.
- State of Maine owns lots of land around Spectacle Pond
- Projects in 2018
- Potential for Burt & I Race - Maybe with Vassalboro Community Days? From Fieldstone Gardens?
- Cleanup Civil War Monument area. Possibly plant new trees in this area or others?
- Use $300 of funding for more planks to use in Town Forest.
June 14th at 7pm is the next meeting.
